SAFE PLACE YOUTH SHELTER

Safe Place Youth Shelter provides emergency housing for youth aged 18-24 experiencing homelessness.

Safe Place Youth Shelter is open 11pm-8am and offers a safe alternative to the streets or hotel, reducing exposure to risk factors. Youth will have a secure place to stay for up to 7 days, while connecting them to longer-term Transitional and Rapid Rehousing Programs at Family Connections Center Inc's The Circle Youth and Young Adult Drop-In and Transitional Housing Center.

The shelter will serve as the initial step towards safety while developing a case management plan to facilitate their transition to independence. Our programs are grounded in Housing First practices and incorporate harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and positive youth development principles and family reunification when safe and possible, to assist youth in accessing housing, support services, and essential skills to break the cycle of homelessness.

Support:

  • Safe and Supportive Environment: Safe Place Youth Shelter will provide a safe and supportive environment where housing insecure youth 18-24 can feel secure and receive case management to focus on their well-being.
  • Comprehensive Services: In addition to emergency housing, participants will have access to vital resources such as long-term housing solutions, workforce development, continued education, and more to help them build essential skills for independent living.
  • Empowerment and Independence: Our program will focus on empowering youth to take control of their lives, make positive choices, and work towards a brighter future for themselves.
